We missed seeing Annie again this week. We hope to see you next week.

We are introduced to Mark this week. All we know about Mark is he was a follower of Jesus Christ and was directed to record his observations of Christ and His ministry.

Please go over the following with your kids:

The baptism of Jesus Christ

  • Watch the video HERE

  • Who spoke after Jesus was baptized?
  • By what power did John the Baptist baptize Jesus
  • What is the difference in "baptism by water" and "baptism by fire"?
  • How can the Holy Ghost help us? Talk to us?

WEEK 4: JANUARY 21-27

"We Have Found the Messiah"
John 1 (see also: Joseph Smith Translation- John 1:1-34, 42)

We missed seeing Izaiah and McKayla today. I hope they are doing well and that we will see them next week.

What to read this week-
  • John 1:1-5~ Jesus lived with Heavenly Father before HIs birth and created the Earth
  • John 1:6-18~ John introduces John the Baptist
  • John 1:19-28~ John the Baptist answers the priest's questions
  • John 1:29-34~ John relates witnessing John the Baptist baptizing Jesus (we'll learn more about this next week)
  • John 1:35-51~ John the Baptist testifies Jesus is the "Lamb of God"; Jesus gains his first followers (Andrew and Simon Peter, Philip, and Nathaneal)
This week gets us into the very beginning of Christ's ministry. John's purpose for writing was to show that Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God. So some stories we are more familiar with are glossed over (i.e. Jesus' baptism) in John's writing and some things we normally don't focus on are detailed in this book. (i.e. gathering of followers/disciples).
